Grillin’ with the Guys

On a Friday night in November, the RealLife men of StoneBridge showed their love for God, grilling, games, and giant portions of steak. Nearly 60 StoneBridge men, visitors, and family members  came to the campus to enjoy a beautiful evening of fellowship and great fun with each other.

RealLife has never hosted an event such as this, but the response indicated that there will be a repeat. While we had no formal agenda or program, we shared lots of meaningful conversation and fantastic food.

The menu included an amazing potato bar, fresh healthy salad, pie and ice cream, along with perfectly grilled steaks, pork chops, and salmon, thanks to the Grillmaster, Pastor Soon. Following the feast, we all joined in some friendly competition which included a muscle flexing nail driving contest and a somewhat less manly game that involved tossing a rubber chicken in the air for bragging rights. Later in the evening, a spontaneous game of football broke out in the parking lot, but instead of a traditional pigskin ball, the same rubber chicken was hurled for major touchdowns. Afterwards, great conversation took place about everything from politics to sports, along with a little theology and discussion about the art of neighboring.

It was a perfect night for sitting around the fire pit and getting to know each other better. Both old and new faces joined in the exchange. On this warm Friday night under the stars, StoneBridge campus was clearly placed for a purpose.
